A question I frequently ask is...
"Can you name a single piece of American legislation to make the lives of working-class / middle America easier or better that was either presented or supported by the GOP, in the past 50 years?"
No one I've asked (including on Medium) has ever come up with a correct answer.
But for Dems, the list of kinda like this, but way longer:
WIC
Unemployment insurance
Voting Rights act
SNAP
ACA (incl. pre-existing condition coverage)
Medicare
Medicaid
Clean Air/Water acts
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
I may have stretched the list a bit beyond 50 years, but even if the GOP is given to 70 years, I know of nothing added beyond the ADA (Americans with Disability Act), which the GOP did not originate, but did vote for. Everything in the above list (plus rural mail and electricity, and more) they fought against tooth and nail.
Being with such people should be an easier choice, if they are genuine liberals. They support a party only concerned with helping the super-rich.
Thank you Ossiana.
