After a trip into town (or rather, village), I posted this on the Steam game site about my experience telling a "good Christian" in the deep south about the mass shooting that had just taken place. (Steam: a place where all traces of reality are instantly put to death.)

AMERICA, LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE...DEAD VERY OFTEN SO BRUTALLY RIPPED TO SHREDS BY ASSAULT RIFLES THAT EVEN TINY CHILDREN CAN ONLY BE IDENTIFIED THROUGH DNA EVIDENCE
Forgive me, but I've been BOILING since mid-morning.
Not because five more Americans died from mass gun violence today (mass shooting #146 on day #100 of 2023), but what happened when I mentioned this slaughter to someone in the local pharmacy: a pharmacy located in a rural village of < 1,000 people in America's rural deep south. A tiny town with THREE GUN STORES. (For many years an earlier iteration of this same pharmacy sold guns IMMEDIATELY beside the counter dispensing prescription drugs, and no one seems to have ever given it a second thought.)
A local woman, identity unknown to me, explained that guns are good, mental illness was the problem, and all is going according to "God's will, and he(sic) makes no mistakes." (So mental illness is very bad, but NOT a mistake?)
Her message would indicate that rather than punishing those who slaughter children in mass, we should instead reward them for doing "God's will". (As long as they use God's tool of greatest love, an assault rifle...and are white.) I didn't say any of that, and my lack of courage is why I'm still boiling hours later.
I agreed with her that mental health is a concern in America, and health care should be more widely available. What I did NOT say is that the same far-right leaders(sic) who overwhelmingly value NRA donations over the lives of small children also have tried to destroy the ACA >SEVENTY TIMES. (The Affordable Care Act provides health insurance to >35,000,000 working Americans who still otherwise cannot afford health care, and the wrong-wing desire to eliminate the ACA is because it is a successful health care plan enacted by a Black president with the purpose to provide health care to America's working POOR.)
I said none of this, so I would still be alive to tell about my experience here.
There's a very good reason I have to know a Steam friend well before I offer them my first name, and why my Profile Page bio includes an admonition against doxing me to ANY degree. (Things I've written elsewhere online would not go over well in most of the former "Confederate States of America".)
America does NOT have a problem with the LGBTQIA+ community, or scientific books about sexuality, or the study of Black history, or "Woke Math", or even The Little Mermaid, shoes worn by "sexy" M&Ms...or even Mr. Potato Head.
America has problems with HATE and GUNS!
