How are such things possibly said by someone NOT wishing to cause harm? Unbelievable.

But what may be almost as bad...

A very popular Black wrtiter on Medium absolutely refuses to believe that I was never racist, as a white child in the south. After related my account of being raised among racism in the south during legal segregation (and being absolutely appalled, even as a small child), she continued to ask me to tell her the story of my "change" from being racist. I finally just gave up. (And I've noticed other white writers having exactly the same experience with this writer.)

Thank you for sharing, and for feeling otherwise. Even a child can be fully aware that racism is horrible and unacceptable.
