"I am an anti-racist art educator because Elijah McClain, an artistic and perceptive soul, has been blamed by racists for his own death. And it guts me."
Me too, sir. Every time I hear his name my heart breaks anew. (Except this past week. While having a profoundly sad source, the news brings with it a bit of hope.)
WHile I possesses in excess of 100 "cause" shirts, I have only one memorial shirt. And it's the one authorized by Elijah McClain's mother. (The campaign was judged a success, but has now ended):
It's a beautiful shirt that I am both proud and sad each time I wear.
Beautiful poetry, sir. Thank you for sharing it.
