I suspect (and have written and commented ad nauseum) that the "right" is terrified that all the lies of Southern Strategy (and Southern Strategy itself, all 60+ years of it) will be revealed if the actual history of race in America is revealed.

(Basically, that the GOPQ is fully accepting of lies, but not truth. Among republicans alone, that's clearly not a concern. But among the general public it's another story entirely. I suspect they should have concerns.)
