Ironically, the reason Loeffler was appointed senator over a more qualified republican was her wealth. Being so rich meant to McConnell that when an actual election came up, she would be able to self-finance the race, and the GOP would not need to contribute. But, as has been said so many times, conservatives have ZERO sense of irony.

This just may turn out to be the most expensive race in the history of the senate. Come January, let's ask Mitch just how helpful it turned out to be to select a rank beginner (and one willing to risk her office to get richer on illegal insider info stock trades.)
