Recently I was reading the full version of The 1619 Report in public, in a doctors office, when I broke down uncontrollably in tears.

There was an account of a slave owner who purchased a young teen slave specifically for sex and breeding purposes. After several births, he approached her for sex when she was pregnant and sick. He refused to accept that she refused him on that occasion, and in the resulting attempted rape she killed him.

They held her in a cell until she gave birth to the valuable slave infant...and then they hanged her.

In America it had been the father’s race that had determined the race of the resulting child...until that equated to a financial loss. At which point the law was changed so the resulting birth form EVERY slave rape was money. Not a life, not a child...money.

How could anyone not break down publicly in tears?

We white men were absolute bastards. (Have we actually changed enough to make up for the past? I’d say as a general rule; no.)
