Respectfully,

Would you not equate Belarus and Russia to so-called authoritarian governments? Perhaps you don't, but I suspect their citizens overwhelming do. And in both countries the issue is very often voting "irregularities" and thus questions over the voices of the people being ignored. And while voting is a lesser issue here (so far), the racial injustice driving people to the street very much concerns the issue of the voices of the people not being heard.

Yet both Belarus and Russia have protests on a very regular basis without mass murder by the military at the request of the government. They are far more subtle than that. (More the "grabbing people off the streets in unmarked vans" degree of subtle.)

Don't forget the very reason for the 1936 Olympics in Berlin....optics.
