Respectfully, isn't the whole point of Christianity to at least make the attempt to follow someone who was (at least in theory) "perfect"?

Is it really so hard to at least read the Sermon On the Mount, and try to follow it? I see very little of that. Might it be because "once saved, always saved" is a very lazy expression of faith?
