Sir, you are certainly not the only “white person” to consider this issue of race (though perhaps less of, as you say, class.) Perhaps it might be at least slightly meaningful to see how another such (white) person feels about the matter, (though undeniably very selfish and egotistical) both in response to this very understanding writer and one seemingly less experienced (and less understanding), though not necessarily less passionate. It’s hard to argue that, at least statistically, we do not carry the very heavy weight of our historical and genetic sins.
