Thank you, Allison. There are so many things I would never be aware of, if not for you.

Even at the age of 63, I'm amazed and distressed to still be learning details concerning the history (and current presence) of racial and gender oppression occurring right under my nose in America. (And other forms of oppression as well.)

But more, I'm distressed that so many people (of all demographics) seem to have no interest or concern, instead focusing purely on themselves as the center of their small world.

Obviously, education is a huge part of addressing this issue (and the very reason the "right" is so opposed to such education or corporate training.) And perhaps we'll see such education at all levels taking a greater role, and starting very soon.

As have most Medium contributors, I've watched Medium traffic drop, seemingly proportionately as America's fears have diminished. And I'm very willing to see my numbers drop (which is easy for me, as nothing I write is eligible for payment), but I sincerely hope this isn't an indication that Biden is expected to solve every one of America's serious issues, and that the fear of oppression in its many forms is thought to soon become a thing of the past.

I get it. Work is hard, and exhausting, and filled with disappointments. Still, we've gained little if the only thing that wakes us up is yet another high-profile police murder of an innocent person of color.
