Thanks, GOP. For nuthin'!

At the end of WWII, patriotic and wealthy Americans briefly paid a tax rate as high as 94%, because that was the need. And they were apparently happy to do so, seeing it as their patriotic duty.

But just 35 years later under Ronald "Criminalize Poverty" Reagan, the rich wanted more (starting a pattern that hasn’t even ceased its acceleration, much less begun to slow), and Reagan did everything possible to give it to them. The resulting economic result was so severe that Reagan was forced to reverse his tax cuts with the largest tax increase in American history (at that time.)

But then in the early 2000s, again while America was fighting a war, rich Americans were resistant to a 36% tax rate (17% for investment income, i.e. “income for not working”) and received not one but TWO millionaire tax cuts under “W” (plus funneling billions to them as war profiteers) before they were (briefly) satisfied. (Never before done in America during wartime.)

Under Frump, the richest 1% was just given $1.5 TRILLION dollars, allowing the GOP to be able to call Democrats the “tax and spend party” once again, as they have done for decades whenever this cycle of misery has taken another circle, and the Democrats are once again forced to protect Americans from the rich and the GOP. (Redundancy alert!) And it was done because the richest donors threatened the GOP financially, and of course the GOP put those few donors above the other 99.something% of America.
