The right(sic) is absolutely terrified that Black Americans will learn the truth about the Southern Strategy, that race lies were absolutely used to stoke hate and fear among white racists in the south so they would vote Republican. They apparently think that stopping the teaching of all race-based history will stop this education as well.

The evidence that the Southern Strategy was effective? Due to the southern hatred for Lincoln, after the Civil War no repubs were elected in the south for about 100 years. That is, until the Southern Strategy was implemented around the late 50s/early 60s. Within less than 2 decades, repubs not only were winning, but to this day can hardly lose.

Clearly the GOP does not want this truth to be known, and calling American history "CRT" (when it clearly is not) is how they intend to accomplish this.

May I suggest "The Long Southern Strategy: How Chasing White Voters in the South Changed American Politics". An excellent and well written book on this topic (other than as a satisfied and now more educated reader, I have no personal involvement with this book or its writers):
