“Trump’s capacity for lying isn’t the surprise here, though the frequency is.”
It has long been speculated that “Pre-Indict Drumpf” would rather tell a lie than the truth, but I believe we now have proof positive that for Drumpf, The Lie is indeed preferred.
His very recent statement involving the newest victim of Drumpf’s advances (in this instance known as rape), was apparently issued after the public at large was aware that a photo existed showing the two clearly having a social “moment”. The original piece in “The Cut” clearly makes the case to the world that, regardless of details or circumstances, they had very much “met”.
Yet Drumpf’s response was not as any sane person would offer, something along the lines of “I can in perfect honesty say that I have absolutely no memory of ever meeting this woman.” The reality of the photo indicates that his memory is irrelevant to the truth, but at least it would be an incontestable statement (despite his claims of “…having of one the great memories of all time.”) Even without the existence of the photo, this would have been by far the more reasonable and logical response. (But perhaps not for a man claiming to be able to shoot people without losing support (which clearly presumes he’d be shooting a Democrat.) And might we presume that very event comes next, considering Iran?)
But what did Drumpf say instead? That he “never met this person in my life”, a lie obvious to anyone familiar with either the article, the photo, or the details of the case the article relates to all the world.
Indeed, Dumpf seems more inclined to present as many variations and combinations of both lies and truths as possible, clearly to enable him to pick and choose at any time (and rally) of his choosing. But The Lie seems to occupy the warmer place in what might best be described as his “gaping chest void”.
