Yeah, that Reagan was really ahead of his time. Like when one of his first tasks in office was to tear down the solar panels Jimmy Carter had placed on the White House roof, as a beginning to Carter's plan for energy independence.

And I will never forgive Reagan using the American hostages as pawns to humiliate the outgoing President Carter. What kind of person uses humans in such a manner, while letting their families (and all America) feel they could be killed at any moment, when in reality, the deal for their freedom was already complete?

Need we even say that Reagan may be the 2nd most prolific liar to sit in the White House. The Washington Post began by reporting on Reagan's lies, gaffs and broken promises, but were basically told by readers, "you should leave that old man alone." And so they did.

I could go on all day about the "welfare queen" lie, or the criminalization of poverty, or Iran/Contra (and how "Papa Bush" brought it all to a close just before it got to his actions as head of the CIA), and how the WH staff was on the verge of using the 25th amendment to find a replacement because all Reagan did was sit and watch his old movies all day. Or how Reagan apparently actually BELIEVED he was at the liberation of a Nazi concentration camp (when in truth, the closest he ever came to military service was in the movies, and it is still claimed by repubs that Reagan served in WWII.)

Guess I did go on all day....

Thank you for sharing this important article.
