Yes, Paulina, America's indigenous are receiving some degree of "correction", but almost without exception after a lot of kicking and screaming on behalf of their opponent, and at a glacial pace. (Far too often, of course, "opponent" means "our government".)

But it's hard to imagine anything making up for the Trail of Tears, and hundreds of other instances of theft and attempted genocide involving these innocent victims.

I confess to not keeping up with the issues of America's native peoples as I should have over the past several decades, so I'm not the best person to ask.

In reference to the second part of your comment:

The Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal incident (that I describe in greater detail in my most recent submission), pretty much confirmed what I had suspected, but would not have said publicly at that time: a lot of the MAGAs (particularly young men, one presumes, based on pretty compelling evidence), are excitedly looking forward to the Purge Day that Trump occasionally references (or did, until 11/5/24), and they would no more hesitate to murder innocent, unarmed people in the street (or their yards, perhaps), just as Rittenhouse did, than to shoot and kill a tiny feral baby pig no more than 50 feet from our house (without permission.)

Fortunately, one presumes this to be a small subset of MAGA voters, but it doesn't take many. After all, once that floodgate opens, and there is no longer any means (or will) to identify, arrest or imprison the killers, there may be no way to close it.

This is a satirical piece I wrote on the topic (and I promise there will not be a quiz.) I say satirical, but the general theme seems all too real to me:

I think you're right, and in the pre-Civil War south they saw the complete domination of one race by another to be the path to wealth and greatness. (And the near economic ruin of the south after the loss of slave labor provides just as much "confirmation" as a simplistic viewpoint might ever need.)

Thank you, Paulina. I always appreciate your input, whether it be comments, claps or highlighting.

PS-

I remember one Friday night about midnight, years ago, when I discovered a truck full of strangers in my yard. They were there to kill raccoons using rifles. (How they ended up in my yard, I'll never know, unless it's simply because I lived at the very end of farm road with no neighbors near a wooded area, and it was just chance. But hands down. the most amazing "pet" I've ever had was a raccoon, so please understand that none of this made me happy.)

Yes, they were breaking the law by shooting so near a home, but it never entered my mind to call the law. I asked what they intended to do with the carcasses, and the response was something about "giving them to the "N-lady down the road to make stew."

I don't remember exactly what I said, but the father's response to something specifically about killing the raccoons was, "It's better than smokin' crack."

Hard to argue with such firm logic (or the heavily armed person spewing such a limited thought.) One would rather think that almost anything would fall in that category...like reading.
